How to Steal Crops
Stealing only works at night. Watch the sky — when it darkens, the stealing window opens. Night lasts about 2 minutes 30 seconds.
Look for gardens where the owner isn't standing inside. Gardens are locked when the owner is present — you can't steal from them.
Avoid gardens with Gnomes, Dragon's Breath, or Venus Fly Traps near entrances unless you have tools. Jump Mushrooms let you leap over walls, Shrink Mushrooms fit through gaps.
Walk up to any ripe crop and press E to pick it up. You can carry multiple crops. Bamboo cannot be stolen.
Teleport is disabled while carrying stolen crops. You must walk back on foot. Only steal from gardens close to yours — a long walk means more risk of being caught.
Reach your garden to convert stolen crops. If you get hit by a Shovel, you drop everything and it returns to the original owner.
How to Defend Your Garden
Locking your garden is the most effective defense — nobody can steal while you're inside. But it means you can't raid other gardens at night.
Play in a private server to completely opt out of PvP. Best for AFK farming high-value crops overnight.
Patrols your garden and swarms intruders automatically. Works while you're away. One of the most reliable passive defenders.
Sets intruders on fire with its breath. Makes stealing from your garden near-impossible.
A defensive gear item that attacks intruders autonomously. More affordable than Bee and works passively.
Fires lasers at intruders and causes Sheckles to drop near them. Great at garden entrances.
Eats players who enter its range. Place at garden entrances for maximum coverage.
Every player starts with a Shovel. Hit a thief carrying stolen crops and they drop everything — the crops return to your garden.
Pro Tips
Raccoon steals autonomously at night without you needing to do anything — and increases your steal limit by 25.
Electric (70x) and Bloodlit (80x) crops are prime targets. Use Bee or Black Dragon during weather events.
If you can't defend overnight, sell your most valuable crops before logging off to prevent losses.
If you're farming overnight or going AFK, a private server removes stealing risk entirely.

Stealing FAQ
Can you steal in Grow a Garden 2 for free?
Yes — unlike Grow a Garden 1 where stealing cost Robux, stealing in GAG2 is completely free for all players. It's a core part of the game loop.
What crops can't be stolen?
Bamboo cannot be stolen. All other ripe crops are fair game during the night stealing window.
What happens if you get hit while carrying stolen crops?
If another player hits you with a Shovel while you're carrying stolen crops, you drop everything and the crops return to their original garden position.
Can the Raccoon pet steal automatically?
Yes — the Raccoon pet autonomously steals random fruit from nearby gardens at night without you needing to do anything. It also increases your steal limit by 25.
What is the best defense against stealing?
The most effective options are: (1) stay in your garden to lock it, (2) use a private server, (3) Bee pet for passive automated defense, (4) Black Dragon for near-impenetrable protection. For budget options, Gnome gear and Dragon's Breath plants at entrances slow down most thieves.
Can you steal during the day?
No. Stealing is only enabled during the night phase. There is no way to steal during daytime.
